Haps in P*Town

Here are some highlights from January for the Adam Rindy family:

* We have read The Book of Mormon every day ALL YEAR LONG. (We're not sure how long we'll be able to say that, so we're taking advantage of every chance we get.)  Misty has worked out a fun new reading schedule, and we're already on chapter 17 of 1 Nephi.  (We didn't make it much past that through all of 2012, so we're feeling pretty good.)

* We've arranged a Kid Swap so we watch kiddos while their parents go to the temple and then our kids go to their house while we go to the temple.  It's a stroke of genius, since it takes care of the kidlet situation and we have extra forces encouraging us to get to the temple.  We took advantage of Human Rights Day (when Adam had the day off) to go for the first time this year and it was great.  The new movie invites a lot of pondering, and we both came away with some new lessons.

* We've started this rice experiment that Misty heard about at Time Out For Women and the kids have had a blast saying nice things to the Love Rice and grumpy things to the Hate Rice.  We're hoping that our little experiment turns out the way it's supposed to, but so far it has made a big difference, particularly with how the kids talk to each other.  It's awesome.

* AJ & Aaron have read 1,000 books with their first grade class and got to have a 'D' Party.  Their teacher encouraged them to come to school in a disguise or dressed up and our boys took that to mean they could wear their Skeleton Halloween Costumes from 2 years ago.  They thought it was the greatest day ever.

* Melia has also been having a blast at school.  They are working on their Pirate unit in her Preschool and her treasure hunt was last week.  She came home looking like the real deal.

* Adam took his Praxis Test for his Reading Endorsement class and rocked it.  After 6 years of endorsements, he's taking a small break, much to Misty's delight, before he begins his Technology Endorsement next year.  It is great to have him home on Tuesday nights.

* Melia's dance recital was last weekend and she did a great job.  It was wonderful especially to have Grandma Rindy come support her (and bring GummiBears for AJ & Aaron - bonus!).  Melia loves dancing and performing and thought she was hot stuff when she got flowers from her uncles after the show.

* Our Wednesday nights have been busy with Mutual for Adam and volleyball games for Misty, but that helps us enjoy our commitment-free evenings even more.  We love spending time together at home, doing puzzles, playing games, and relaxing without having to rush around.  Life is good.
